Ceist:

540 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if an additional teacher will be appointed to meet the needs of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford when he commences education in the local national school or if a classroom assistant trained to meet his special needs will be assigned to look after him while in school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have arranged for a member of my Department's psychological service to liaise with the relevant clinical services to establish the special educational needs of the child in question and to make recommendations on suitable provision. Once these recommendations come to hand, my Department will pursue the issue of educational provision for the child in question.
