Vol. 491 No. 3

Written Answers. - Industrial Development.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

84 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the total value of investment in employment to date in 1998 in both manufacturing and service industries; the amount of State grants payable, if any, on foot of these investments; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12121/98]

To date in 1998, the industrial development agencies under the aegis of my Department, IDA Ireland, Forbairt, Shannon development and county enterprise boards, have committed £125.2 million in State grants to projects with estimated investments of £742.4 million by the companies concerned.

I would point out, however, that not all projects approved for funding assistance proceed as planned due to factors internal to the companies concerned or to external market trends.
