127 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress, if any, made by her Department in relation to the purchase of a portion of a hill (details supplied); when this process will be completed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14624/98]
Dúchas, the heritage service of my Department, is currently in the process of negotiating acquisition of lands at Uisneach. Unfortunately these negotiations are proving difficult and accordingly I am not in a position at this stage to give a likely completion date but I am hopeful that agreement will be reached. The Hill of Uisneach is of significant archaeological, historical and early literary interest. Provided that the ownership issue is resolved, it is the intention of Dúchas to improve the presentation of this important archaeological site.
