Vol. 492 No. 5

Written Answers. - Chiropody Service.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

91 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have investigations made into the growing waiting list for chiropody treatment in the South-Eastern Health Board area and, in particular, in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who has a medical card and is waiting since January 1998 for an appointment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14546/98]

As the Deputy is aware, provision of chiropody services for medical card holders in the Kilkenny area is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board. The board has advised me that a limited chiropody service is provided for medical card holders over 65 years of age or for those who require the service based on medical need. I understand that the individual referred to in the question has been given an appointment with the chiropodist for 4 August 1998.
