Vol. 493 No. 1

Written Answers. - Asylum Applications.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

101 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of a person (details supplied) in County Galway who has applied for a course in Galway as a mature student and is anxious to stay in this country as a student; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15381/98]

The person in question was issued with a letter informing him that his permission to remain in the State would not be renewed. The person was given 21 days in which to leave the State, or to make representations as to why a deportation order should not be made in respect of him. Representations have been made and are currently under examination.
