I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 in the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Naughten — the need to immediately provide adequate swimming pool facilities in County Roscommon in light of a recent accident in the county; (2) Deputy Lawlor — the soaring costs of rented accommodation in the Dublin area for individuals and families on low incomes with the attendant increase in homelessness and families being housed in bed and breakfast accommodation and hostels and the pressure for increases in rent allowances paid through the Eastern Health Board and for an increase in the house building programmes of the local authorities in the Dublin area; (3) Deputy Ring — the need to discuss whether a national school in County Mayo can be provided with a permanent stone building rather than a prefab to alleviate its overcrowding problem, considering the isolation and exposed location of the school; (4) Deputy Gormley — the issue of the ‘pick me up' mechanism that has been widely deployed to facilitate party political fund-raising and tax evasion; (5) Deputy Kelleher — the need for a drug awareness programme to be established in all second level schools and appropriate resources to be made available; (6) Deputy Keaveney — the difficulties facing pig producers due to reduced slaughtering capacity and the proposals the Minister has to encourage the provision of additional much needed slaughtering facilities, particularly in the Border region; (7) Deputy Brendan Smith — the difficulties facing pig producers due to reduced slaughtering capacity and the proposals the Minister has to encourage the provision of additional much needed slaughtering facilities particularly in the Border region; (8) Deputy Shatter — the failure of the Eastern Health Board to properly investigate 379 cases of reported child abuse and a total of 1,121 reports relating to children who are on a waiting list for social work services; (9) Deputy Gerard Reynolds — the need to make urgent provision of finance to Sligo Corporation for works to be carried out on the houses in Banks Drive, Sligo; (10) Deputy Deenihan — the need to provide necessary finance as a matter of urgency for additional accommodation at Kilconly national school, Ballybunion, County Kerry, in view of the serious overcrowding in the school; (11) Deputy Gilmore — the case of a ten year-old child (details supplied) who has been unable to attend a school since last November because her parents have been unable to obtain a suitable placing for her; (12) Deputy Ó Caoláin — the need to safeguard the superb natural amenity of Lough Muckno, Castleblayney, County Monaghan.
