61 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the position regarding a detailed submission made to his Department by the Snapnet Fisherman's Alliance, Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15382/98]
I met with a delegation from the Snapnet Fisherman's Alliance on 28 May. While I appreciate the case made by the snapnet fishermen, I trust the Deputy will understand that it is necessary to maintain the current conservation measures, including the restrictions on the fishing effort allowed, in order to protect salmon stocks.
