Written Answers. - Underage Drinking.
In 1993 the health promotion unit of my Department commissioned the ESRI to carry out a survey on the drinking behaviour of a cross section of young people in Ireland and the results have been published. In addition, in 1995, Ireland participated in the European school survey project on alcohol and other drugs and again the results of this survey have been published. The health promotion unit has recently commissioned University College Galway to carry out a national lifestyle survey to establish the health status of the nation. This survey will include information on the alcohol consumption habits of school children. The preliminary results of the survey are expected before the end of the year.
