Vol. 493 No. 5

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

160 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding pension entitlements for a person (details supplied) who works in the Eastern Health Board and has been informed that, after paying 6.5 per cent into the pension fund for 20 years, she will get no pension once the old age social welfare pension exceeds £100 per week; if this is correct, the steps, if any, he will take to reassure staff in the situation; the pension entitlements under this pension fund; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16673/98]

The administration of the local government superannuation scheme for staff of the Eastern Health Board is a matter for the board. In the event of the individual feeling aggrieved in relation to benefits payable under the scheme, there is a right of appeal to my colleague, Deputy Noel Dempsey, the Minister for the Environment and Local Government, who has statutory responsibility for the local government superannuation scheme.
