168 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Health and Children the stage of planning of the proposed new health care unit at Cootehill, County Cavan; when it is expected tenders will be invited; when construction will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16819/98]
The provision of health care units in County Cavan is, in the first instance, a matter for the North Eastern Health Board. I understand that the planning process of the Cootehill project is almost complete. Financial support from my Department will be considered in 1999 in the context of available capital resources, the competing demands on those resources and the priority which the health board attaches to the proposed development.
