199 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will ensure that an application in relation to land registry for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal is processed without further delay. [16626/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 27 November 1996. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process.

I am further informed that the Land Registry issued queries on this dealing to the applicant's solicitor on 23 September 1997 which are a matter of ongoing correspondence. The queries raised must be satisfactorily discharged before the matter can proceed.
