77 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of staff in his Department serving abroad and at home for each of the years from 1990 to date. [16465/98]
The following table sets out the number of Department of Foreign Affairs staff, both at home and abroad, in each of the years 1990 to 1998. In 1996, an additional 100 staff approximately were employed in connection with the Irish Presidency.
In addition to the Department's core staffing numbers, temporary clerical officers are employed each year to cope with the increased seasonal demand at the Dublin and Cork passport offices. At present 45 TCOs are employed at the Dublin passport office and 20 at the Cork office.
