298 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be given orthodontic treatment having regard to his reply to previous parliamentary questions and to a letter from the then Minister of 23 October 1996 and considering that the Western Health Board gave an undertaking in 1996 to provide any necessary dental treatment once it had recruited a replacement dentist for the Belmullet area, County Mayo. As the provision of orthodontic treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board, I have asked the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
