Vol. 494 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Facilities.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

309 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the acute situation relating to St. John's Hospital, Enniscorthy, County Wexford, whereby the facilities have deteriorated to an unacceptable level as verified by the report of a recent visiting committee of the health board to the hospital; if his Department will give immediate approval to the design plans submitted over a year ago in view of the fact there will be a further delay in construction after approval; if he will expedite the processing of this development; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18620/98]

I am aware of the need to upgrade the facilities at St. John's Hospital, Enniscorthy and proposals have been received from the South-Eastern Health Board in this regard. I assure the Deputy that these proposals are under active consideration and will be responded to as soon as possible.
