379 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the policy objective of his Department being served by the maintenance of the current regime relative to refugees and asylum seekers which prevent them from taking up employment in the period between the registering of their applications with his Department and the ultimate decisions thereon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 383 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on allowing refugees and asylum seekers whose applications have been received by his Department to enter the labour force and to become contributors to and beneficiaries of the economy in the period between the acknowledgement of their applications and the ultimate decision on their application or appeal as the case may be; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
