96 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to introduce a once-off tax credit to home owners who install a mainsconnected smoke alarm if the house was constructed pre-July 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19602/98]

I have no plans to introduce a tax relief of the type described by the Deputy in relation to the installation of smoke alarms.
