Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Ellis

Ceist:

123 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a reactor grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [19796/98]

The appropriate TB reactor grant payment on a reactor cow disclosed in a herd test in August, 1998 issued to the person named on 9 October 1998.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

124 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo did not receive his full entitlements of extensification payment for 1997; and when he will receive the remainder of his entitlement. [19807/98]

Application was made by the person named under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme on 29 May 1997 in respect of six animals and full payment has issued under the scheme.

Article 4 (h) of Council Regulation (EEC) N. 2066/92 states that a producer must have a stocking density of less than 1.4 livestock units in order to qualify for extensification premium. Suckler cows are classified as one livestock unit each and ewes are classified as 0.15 of a livestock unit each.

The stocking density of the holding of the person named was calculated as follows:

The person named applied for premium on 15 ewes under the ewe premium scheme.

All ewes payable under the ewe premium scheme 15 x 0.15 Lus each

2.25 Lus

All animals payable under the suckler cow premium scheme 6 x 1.0 Lus each

6.00 Lus

Total

8.25 Lus

The forage area declared on the 1997 area aid application form of the person named was 13.40 hectares. Therefore the stocking density for the holding in question is 8.25 Lus divided by 13.40 hectares which equals 0.61 Lus/hectare. The person named therefore qualified for payment of extensification premium at the higher rate of £43.13 per suckler cow.
A cheque for £258.78, 6 x £43.13, issued to him on 19 June 1998 representing full payment under the extensification premium scheme. Extensification premium is only paid on suckler cows and male cattle, as applicable, it is not paid on ewes.

Ceist:

125 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when an appeal for 1997 cattle headage will be finalised for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [19808/98]

The headage and premia appeals unit has fully examined this case and the herdowner was notified on 5 October 1998 that his appeal had been unsuccessful.

Ceist:

126 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a new land parcel identification number will be allocated to a parcel of land for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo to enable the remainder of 1998 sheep headage to issue to him. [19809/98]

In order to expedite the clearance of all remaining area aid applications it is necessary to contact farmers individually. The area aid unit is concentrating all its resources on clearing outstanding cases by making contact with the farmers who have outstanding problems. In the meantime it will not be possible for the unit to provide information on individual cases by phone or otherwise.

The provision of information on individual cases involving contact with farmers would delay the process of resolving outstanding cases with consequential delays in the issue of payment to the farmers concerned.
