162 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when his Department will approve the request of Cork County Council for the appointment of a consultant to examine the sludge situation in Cork south and west regions. [19753/98]

Cork County Council has submitted a brief for the appointment of consultants to undertake a review of the sludge strategy for the county as a whole. My Department is in correspondence with the local authority about this and their response is awaited.
