Vol. 495 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Charles Flanagan

Ceist:

202 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the need to provide a further classroom in a school (details supplied) in County Offaly; if his attention has been further drawn to the fact that fifth and sixth classes are taught in three different rooms due to pressure of space; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19792/98]

The management of the school referred to by the Deputy has applied for additional accommodation to my Department. Following a review of the schools needs, it is anticipated that enrolments will continue to decline, thus reducing the school's accommodation requirements. My Department will continue to monitor the enrolment figures and should there be a deviation from that projected, the school's application will be re-examined. The school was advised of the position on 15 April 1998.
