77 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Finance if he has received a copy of the report (details supplied) in relation to overcharging of interest and fees which came to light in 1998; his views on whether it is an adequate response to the issues raised; the action, if any, he will take on foot of the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. On 4 August 1998 National Irish Bank issued a press release advising that the findings of the Arthur Andersen and National Australia Group internal investigation team in relation to interest and fee amendments at National Irish Bank had been presented to it. I would like to advise the Deputy that, apart from the findings published in that press release, I have not received any other information in relation to the particular internal investigation. As the Deputy will be aware, of course, several investigations into this matter have been initiated by the appropriate authorities including the Central Bank, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and the Director of Consumer Affairs.
