Vol. 496 No. 1

Written Answers. - Teachers' Salaries.

Frances Fitzgerald

Ceist:

196 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education and Science if time spent teaching in a private school is taken into account when decisions are being made in relation to the point of salary scale a person goes on to when he or she returns to his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21993/98]

Arrangements for the award of incremental credit are governed by the terms of agreements reached at the Conciliation Council for Teachers.

There is no provision for the award of incremental credit in respect of time spent teaching in a private school. However, the question of incremental credit, including incremental credit in respect of teaching in private schools, is being discussed at the conciliation council.
