Vol. 496 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Monuments.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

146 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason there are only two stonemasons employed in the heritage service depot in Kilkenny in view of the fact many national monuments need urgent attention in the area; and if she will make a statement on her intentions in relation to employment levels and grants for this depot. [22298/98]

The normal complement of stone masons attached to the Kilkenny national monuments depot is three which is considered adequate to meet current commitments. There is a vacancy for a stone mason which my Department is seeking to fill at present. In general, both the staffing levels and resources deployed in the Kilkenny national monuments depot are considered adequate.
