274 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide the necessary funding to the North-Eastern Health Board in 1999 to progress its proposal to upgrade Monaghan general hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22607/98]

The North-Eastern Health Board has submitted a set of proposals regarding the development of acute hospital services in its area, including the Cavan-Monaghan hospital group. I am assessing these proposals in the context of available funding for 1999 and subsequent years.
