Vol. 496 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Aid.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

393 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will release funding under the young people's facilities and services fund to an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 11, in view of the fact that it is the only community addiction studies training centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22935/98]

An application for funding from the organisation in question has been made under the £500,000 allocation from the young people's facilities and services fund for voluntary organisations with a national and-or regional remit. A total of 55 applications have been received requesting a total of over £4.5 million. The assessment committee, established under the fund, is currently evaluating all the applications against the specific eligibility and assessment criteria, notified already to applicants, and will make recommendations on funding to the Cabinet committee on social inclusion, which is chaired by the Taoiseach, in due course.
