Vol. 496 No. 3

Written Answers. - Semi-State Sector Remuneration.

Derek McDowell

Ceist:

45 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the discussions, if any, she has had with the Department of Finance in relation to finalising the pay of chief executives in commercial semi-State companies under her aegis; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22642/98]

Neither I nor my officials have had any discussions with the Department of Finance in this context. I understand that Department is still assessing the report from Hay-MSL Management Consultants, which was commissioned by my colleague, the Minister for Finance, to report on the remuneration of chief executives of commercial State bodies. This report was commissioned in the context of the Government decision, announced on 24 March 1998, to modify the recommendations contained within report No. 37 of the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector in relation to chief executives of the commercial State bodies.
