Vol. 496 No. 3
47 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the plans, if any, she has to develop a Dublin to Derry direct rail service; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20819/98]
I have no function in relation to this matter; it is a day-to-day matter for Iarnród Éireann and Northern Ireland Railways. The British-Irish Agreement identifies strategic transport planning as one of a number of possible areas for North-South co-operation and implementation. Any agreed arrangements for such co-operation and agreement might well provide a forum for discussion of the issue raised by the Deputy.
