Written Answers. - Green Paper on Sustainable Energy.
The Green Paper on Sustainable Energy, which will provide a coherent set of policy proposals in the areas of energy efficiency, alternative energy and CO 2 and greenhouse gas abatement measures, is currently at an advanced stage of preparation in my Department.
Over 60 submissions covering a wide range of issues were received by the closing date and these are being taken into account in the preparation of the document. In addition, I am awaiting the outcome of the UN framework conference on climate change taking place in Buenos Aires at which Ireland is represented. This conference will cover many of the aspects to be included in the Green Paper relating to energy and the environment.
It is my intention that the Green Paper will be published as soon as possible and probably before the end of this year.
