126 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the recent or further discussions, if any, she has had with the Director of Telecommunications Regulation in relation to the legal framework for the provision of interim licences for television deflector groups; and if she will expedite Government consideration and approval of regulations in view of the commitment by the regulator to have these regulations in place by December 1998. As I stated in my reply to the Deputy on this issue on 30 September, 1998, I have met the Director on a number of occasions to discuss a wide range of issues and to get an update on developments. The question of a licensing regime for deflector operators has, of course, been discussed and I look forward to receiving proposals from the Director in this regard.
I can confirm that I have not yet received any such proposals from the Director and it is my understanding that she will not be in a position to deal with this question until the end of the year.
