Written Answers. - Army Barracks.
A provision of £14.76 million is included in the 1998 Defence Vote in respect of building and engineering projects and maintenance works for the Defence Forces and is expected to be fully expended. Some projects which commenced during this year will be due for completion in 1999. The Defence Estimates for 1999 will include a provision of about £15 million for building and engineering works generally and, in addition, a special provision of £6 million as the first step towards the application of proceeds expected from the sale of barracks to the improvement of Defence Forces' infrastructure and to meet costs associated with the re-location of personnel.
