Written Answers. - Suckler Cow Quota.
Under EU regulations governing the quota regime, farmers who intend to buy or lease in suckler cow premium quota must have notified the Department on or before the date of lodgement of their suckler cow premium application.
The person named applied for the suckler cow premium scheme in May 1998 and he may not buy or lease in quota after that date.
As payment has already been made on foot of his May 1998 suckler cow premium application, it cannot be cancelled at this stage.
