Payment in respect of arable aid issued to the person named on 31 October 1998. His area aid application contained an overclaim in respect of one forage parcel and his forage area has been reduced to 76.44 hectares accordingly. Any payments due will issue as soon as possible based on this area.

Ceist:216 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if special beef premium payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the fact that he retained the animals for the full retention period and complied with all elements of the scheme; and, if so, when payment will be made. The above named person applied for 26 animals under the January 1998, 22 month special beef premium scheme. This file was the subject of a field inspection and following that inspection the herdowner was deemed to have insufficient documentation relating to the ownership of the 26 cattle.
The animals were duly rejected for payment and the herdowner was notified of this in a letter from the Department dated 21 October 1998 and given leave to appeal. To date no appeal has been received.

Ceist:221 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan has not been paid suckler cow and beef premia; when these grants will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23243/98]
The person named submitted two applications for ten month special beef premium on 26 May 1998 and 23 September 1998 and one application for bull premium.
The first application for special beef premium was for one animal and the 80 per cent advance payment of £72.13 issued on 19 October last.
The second application for special beef premium was also for one animal and the advance payment should issue at a later stage, possibly in December 1998 after completion of the retention period.
The application for bull premium was for one animal and the 80 per cent advance payment of £89.58 issued on 19 October last.
An application was made on 29 May 1998 under the suckler cow premium scheme in respect of 24 cows. One of the animals on the claim had an identification error which meant that the animal in question was not eligible for premium. Advance payment of £2,580.23 on the other 23 animals will issue within the next week.
