245 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide a copy of the report prepared for him and presented to him in January 1979 by Eolas in relation to toxic waste arising and disposal in Ireland. [23247/98]
A draft report presented in January 1979 and entitled, The Disposal of Toxic and Problem Wastes in Ireland, was prepared by the Institute of Industrial Research and Standards for the Industrial Development Authority and the Department of the Environment. The data involved were supplied on a confidential basis by third parties not under a legal obligation to do so; accordingly, I am unable to comply with the Deputy's request for a copy of the draft report.
A national hazardous waste plan is currently in preparation by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a consultation draft is expected to be published shortly.
