38 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Defence the discussions or communication, if any, he has had with the Department of Public Enterprise regarding proposals by private concerns to use Baldonnel Aerodrome; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22990/98]
Recently a number of approaches has been made by private concerns regarding the possible use of Baldonnel Aerodrome in the light aircraft/executive jet sector. The question of using Baldonnel Aerodrome for the provision of a non-military aviation service is appropriate for consideration by the Minister for Public Enterprise. However, the feasibility of the use of the facilities at Baldonnel for civil aviation purposes consistent with its primary use as a military installation requires close liaison between both Departments on an ongoing basis.
