131 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans, if any, he has to appoint a psychotherapist, a consultant in liaison psychotherapy and a forensic psychiatrist to the Mid-Western Health Board region; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25069/98]
The planning and development of mental health services in the Mid-Western Health Board region, including proposals for the appointment of additional consultant staff, are matters in the first instance for the board. I have not received any proposals from the Mid-Western Health Board regarding the appointment of the specific consultant staff referred to by the Deputy. Any such proposals on the matter will be considered in the context of the board's service plan and the availability of the necessary resources.
