138 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will give approval to Kildare County Council for the provision of community facilities at Newtown House, Leixlip, County Kildare; the full extent of the proposed facilities on the site as indicated to his Department by Kildare County Council; if he has advised the council regarding the extent of facilities suitable at this location; if he has been advised in this regard by the council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Dempsey):

From inquiries made by my Department with the local authority, it is understood that Kildare County Council is developing proposals in relation to Newtown House, Leixlip, County Kildare, which are likely to include proposals for a library and other facilities.

The library proposal, when received, will be considered under the Department's funding programme for the public library service.
