74 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she will guarantee that all essential services for which she has responsibility will not break down on 1 January 2000 due to the millennium bug; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25074/98]
I would refer the Deputy to the answer I gave to Parliamentary Question No. 135 on Tuesday, 17 November 1998. I would like to reiterate that I am confident in the ability of both my Department, and the State-sponsored bodies for which I am responsible, to cope adequately with the year 2000 compliance problem. However, as a matter of prudence, I will be ensuring that appropriate contingency plans are in place.
