Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

82 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a sheep headage payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal. [24949/98]

Under the sheep headage scheme, applicants are required to submit an RSI number if their headage grants would amount to more than £500. As the grants of the person named in respect of the animals claimed would exceed this amount and as he did not submit an RSI number he could not be paid his sheep headage grants. The local office of the Department have written to the person named on two occasions requesting this information and on receipt of same the headage grants can be processed for payment.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

83 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway under the headage, suckler cow and beef premia schemes; and the reason for the delay in these payments. [24957/98]

An application was made by the person named under both the cattle headage and suckler cow schemes on 28 May 1998.

Grants under the cattle headage scheme have already issued. Since the person named is not in possession of a suckler cow quota payment cannot issue to him under the suckler cow premium scheme.

The person concerned submitted two applications to date under the 1998 special beef premium schemes.

The first application was received in my Department on 22 April 1998 in respect of five animals under the ten month scheme. This application was selected for field inspection, during which it was confirmed that one animal had died and therefore was deleted from the application in question but counted for 1998 stocking density. The remaining four animals have been processed and payment should issue within the next two weeks.

The second application was received in my Department on 28 October 1998 in respect of two animals under the 22 month scheme. This application is subject to a two month retention period which will expire at the end of December 1998. Under EU regulations, payment cannot issue until January 1999.
