334 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if the home tuition scheme will be reintroduced in 1998 for a person (details supplied) in County Sligo in view of the fact that he has been assessed by two schools; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a tuition person is immediately available; if a favourable decision will be made in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the case to which the Deputy refers.

The purpose of the home tuition service is to address the needs of children for whom a suitable education placement is not readily available.

I understand that a suitable education placement is available to the child in question and in these circumstances it is not proposed that home tuition be reintroduced.
