The board of the VHI has advised me that it has endeavoured to appoint a chief executive officer, but that this has not proved possible. As an interim measure, the board has engaged the ser vices of a consultant for an initial period of one year, effective from 1 December 1998. The terms of the consultancy arrangements are a matter solely for the VHI and the consultant in question.
