180 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a submission from Westmeath VEC in relation to the provision of a gymnasium at Mullingar community college, County Westmeath; if his Department will provide the necessary finance for this project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. An application has been received for the provision of a gymnasium at Mullingar community college County Westmeath.
The question of providing a PE hall at this school can only be considered in the context of the capital available for post-primary building purposes generally. Because of the demand for classroom accommodation in schools throughout the country, I am not in a position at this stage to state when a gymnasium will be provided in this particular case.
