26 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if it is intended to give statutory effect to the recently issued code of practice on Sunday working in the retail trade; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25993/98]
Statutory effect has already been given to the code of practice on Sunday working in the retail trade by means of the Organisation of Working Time (Code of Practice on Sunday Working in the Retail Trade and Related Matters) (Declaration) Order, 1998, which I signed into law on 19 November 1998. In that order I declared, under section 35(5)(a) of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997, the code of practice set out in the Schedule to the order to be a code of practice on Sunday working in the retail trade for the purposes of section 14 of the 1997 Act.
