Vol. 497 No. 7

Written Answers - Export Markets.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

71 Mr. Callely asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the countries identified as suitable for improving trade links with in 1999; the likely benefits accruing in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25741/98]

The key markets for development of Irish exports in 1999 will continue to be countries of the European Union and central and eastern Europe, the United States and other key markets in North and South America, Asia and various other key global markets such as Australia and New Zealand.

Enterprise Ireland, which is responsible for assisting Irish exporters, has recently opened a new office in San José, USA and has also expanded its network in Brazil, China and Germany.

It is forecast that the value of Irish exports will grow by 12.6 per cent in 1999.
