Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

360 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the capital projects involving funds from his Department which commenced in the Waterford constituency in 1998; the estimated cost in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26445/98]

The position on the capital projects which commenced in County Waterford in 1998 involving funds from my Department is as follows.

At primary level, the projects undertaken ranged from minor works to major capital expenditure. Hence, all of the information sought is not readily available in the format requested. I will write to the Deputy as quickly as possible in the matter.

At post-primary level, a project was undertaken at St. Declan's community college, Kilmacthomas, at a cost of £42,000.

At third level there was a library information resource centre costing £10.5 million, refurbishment of maintenance workshops costing £0.15 million, provision of equipment costing £0.3 million, and purchase of additional lands at Carriganore costing £2.45 million. In addition to the four developments referred to above, my Department approved a number of minor capital works for the Waterford Institute of Technology, including the provision of prefabricated classrooms and the upgrading of teaching kitchens.
