Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Household Incomes.

John V. Farrelly

Ceist:

74 Mr. Farrelly asked the Taoiseach the household income for each electoral division in County Meath as tabulated by the Central Statistics Office; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26276/98]

Household income estimates are not compiled regularly by the Central Statistics Office. CSO is, however, in the process of preparing household income estimates based on a methodology developed for it by the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI). The intention is to provide, by the middle of next year, details at regional level with an overall estimate of household income for each county. Data on household incomes will not be published at a lower level than county, for example DEDs, because the underlying data are not available. For an example, some of the data used for the compilation of household incomes are derived from sample surveys which are much too small to provide results at DED level in any county.
