Vol. 498 No. 3

Written Answers - Social Welfare Appeals.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

146 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if an appeal in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare in respect of unemployment allowance will be decided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27177/98]

The person concerned made an application for unemployment assistance on 7 September 1998.

Following an investigation by a local officer of the Department her claim was disallowed on the grounds that she had failed to provide details of her partner's earnings.

She appealed this decision to the independent social welfare appeals office. An appeals officer has examined her case and is of the opinion that an oral hearing is necessary. This will be arranged as soon as possible.
