176 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has to develop structures in relation to awarding education and training qualifications at national level; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27163/98]
On 9 June 1998 the Government authorised the drafting of the Education and Training (Qualifications) Bill. Drafting is now continuing in the office of the parliamentary draftsman and the aim is to publish the Bill early in 1999.
The Bill will set up the appropriate organisational framework to underpin the development of a national framework of qualifications.
