Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Agricultural Schemes.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

391 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the progress, if any, being made with regard to securing EU Commission approval for the proposed new control of farmyard pollution and dairy hygiene schemes; and the qualifying criteria his Department envisages for these schemes. [1676/99]

My Department is in the process of finalising details of new national funded schemes for the control of farm pollution and the improvement of dairy hygiene standards. The terms and conditions of the new schemes will require the approval of the EU Commission before they can come into operation. I expect that a submission will be made to the EU Commission and both schemes will be launched when the necessary approval is obtained.
