627 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children the funding provided by him to each health board as allocated for 1999; and the specific services for which funding has been provided for each health board. [2077/99]

As well as meeting the 1999 cost of delivering 1998 agreed service levels, these allocations allow for developments in the following main areas.
Acute hospitals, ambulance services, the cancer strategy, accident and emergency services, commissioning of new units in acute hospitals, the cardiovascular health strategy, breast screening, waiting lists, improvements in the quality of measures to ensure the safety of blood and blood products, increases in cost of community drug schemes and cash allowances, dental services, ophthalmic services, the maternity and infant care scheme, childhood immunisation, vaccination, family planning and pregnancy counselling, HIV/AIDS services, drug abuse services, food safety, environmental health, anti-tobacco legislation, treatment of asylum seekers, services for older people, mental health services, mental handicap services, physical disability services, child care services, women's health, violence against women, travellers' health, nursing – including the training and education of nurses, involvement of clinicians in management, medical indemnity and risk management, improvements in information systems, implementation of the Freedom of Information Act and health promotion.
