Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

661 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if Knocklyon Road, Dublin 16, is to be realigned to link up with a new bridge across the Dodder at Spawell; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1131/99]

My Department has recently received a request from South Dublin County Council for grant assistance towards the realignment of Knocklyon road and the provision of a new Dodder bridge at Spawell. This proposal is being examined and will be responded to as soon as possible.

I understand that South Dublin County Council has also approached the National Roads Authority for a contribution to this project in view of its relevance to the opening of the section of the southern cross route from Balrothery to Scholarstown.
