Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Environment Co-ordinating Committee.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

726 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the progress, if any, on the environment co-ordinating committee established to monitor Structural Funds in Ireland. [27266/98]

The Environment Co-ordinating Committee, established following the mid-term review of the Community Support Framework (CSF), 1994-99, met on two occasions in 1998. Consultants for the committee are undertaking a number of tasks including: assessment of steps taken to promote the integration of environmental considerations within the CSF, and provision of advice and guidance on appropriate further steps in this regard; assessment of the current level of environmental integration and the environmental impact of Operational Programmes; review of environmental indicators within the CSF and Operational Programmes.

It is expected that the consultants will report to the committee in the first half of this year.
